Single-Vehicle Accident Leaves Man Dead

On Friday, December 16, a single-vehicle accident left an Omaha man dead.

According to the Douglas Country Sheriff’s Office the accident happened at around 6 p.m. near 186th and State Streets.

Gary McGaha, a 32 year old man from Omaha, was driving a white Toyota Corolla east on State Street and for reasons as yet unknown, the vehicle left the road and hit a tree. The vehicle then burst into flames.

When deputies arrived on the scene, once the fire was extinguished they were unable to identify the driver or the vehicle. However, a vehicle identification number was located on the frame of the car, which was owned by McGaha and he was identified by dental records.

Although it is not known why he left the road, there were icy conditions present at the time which were most likely a contributory factor to the accident.
