Elderly man Killed in Collision With a Dump Truck

On Friday morning, July 22, an elderly man was killed in northwest Omaha in a collision with a dump truck.

According to police, the accident happened shortly after 9 a.m. at the intersection of 171st Street and West Maple Road. Noel G. Lammers, aged 75 was driving an SUV, a 2006 Mazda Tribute, northbound on 171st Street when it collided with a 1996 Peterbilt dump truck which was travelling eastbound. The truck was being driven by 59 year old Ronald L. Nootz of Bellevue and he ran a red light at the intersection colliding with the SUV which had a green light.

The SUV then rolled at least once, and Lammers, who was the only occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nootz was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are expected to be filed.
