On Thursday night, November 10, a motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash in southwest Omaha.
According to Omaha police, the accident happened at around 6 p.m. near 171st and West Center. Nathaniel Darby, aged 27, was driving his 2008 Yamaha YZFR6 motorcycle eastbound on West Center Road and he crashed into the cargo bed of a 2016 GMC Sierra pickup truck which approached the intersection westbound on West Center and was making a turn south. The pickup was being driven by 28 year old Anthony Miller of Wichita, Kansas and was towing a trailer. He was rushed to the Creighton University Medical Center with his legs and abdomen severely injured. The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured.
The intersection was closed for nearly three hours for the investigation and at this stage police believe that Darby may have been speeding and was unable to stop in time.
