The Basic Rules of Traffic Safety

In order to avoid having an accident in a vehicle it is important that every driver knows the basic rules of traffic safety and every time that he or she gets behind the wheel the rules should be followed.

• Children should be buckled up in their car seats or using a seat belt at all times. They should not be allowed to climb around the car while you are driving as you need to use all of your concentration on driving and not checking on children.
• Pets should always be in a pet carried which should be secured by a seat belt or other method. They should never be loose in the car.
• Cell phones must not be used either for calling or texting as again it takes concentration away from the driver and the use of cell phones while driving is a major source of accidents.
• Do not drive when you are tired, either from lack of sleep or having taken certain medications which cause drowsiness. Falling asleep at the wheel is an easy way to have an accident.
• When changing lane always use the mirror first, then signal and then maneuver. Do not change lanes quickly, cut in front of anyone or not use your signal as any of those could cause an accident.
